Sustainable fashion is hot. Really hot.
You would not believe what the finalists of the EcoChic Design Award, organised by Redress, create out of fabrics that other people discarded of.
Redress is fighting waste in the fashion industry.
Ever since we came across their work, we have been in awe for the dedication of the whole team. These last few months leading up to the EcoChic Design Award they have been even more busy than usual.
The EcoChic Design Award is a sustainable fashion design competition extraordinaire.
Organised by Redress the competition inspires emerging fashion designers and students to create mainstream clothing with minimal textile waste. Designers are educated with the theory and techniques to enable them to create sustainable clothing via zero-waste, up-cycling and reconstruction. The competition puts emerging sustainable design talent in the spotlight, creating a platform for the next generation of designers to cut waste out of fashion.
They are expanding!
The inaugural EcoChic Design Award was in Hong Kong in 2011 and the annual competition has since expanded over the last six years to now accepting entries from designers living in Asia, Europe and the USA.
The EcoChic Design Award takes place on September 7th, 2017 in Hong Kong.
We at #impact Podcast are so thrilled that we will be recording at EcoChic Design Award for an upcoming episode of our show.

It’s all teamwork.
The people behind that shooting have all right to be proud of the outcome.
“The variety of textures created from multiple sources of clothing waste was beautiful. I was impressed by the uniqueness of this new group of talents when tasked with the transformation of what we consider trash.” says Sean Kunjambu, Hong Kong-based art director, curator and stylist extraordinaire was the creative mastermind behind ‘Fresh Fight’ – the EcoChic Design Award 2017 fashion shoot.
